Living in this quaint little village with its old-world charm, Somerset West is surprisingly active in creating fun-filled activities for their locals, as well as visitors to the area. Somerset West is perfectly situated if you are planning to visit some of the established wine estates in the country, my favourite being Vergelegen Estate.
Somerset West is also known for some of the most exciting Craft Markets in the area. These markets sell everything from a delicious selection of foods, to organic produce, arts and crafts and live entertainment. The Lourensford Market has taken the town by storm! Check it out here!
On the outer perimeters of Somerset West is the ever popular family destination called Monkey Town. Here you can experience a guided tour, offering interaction with the tame monkeys, as well as feeding times. There is a play park, touch farmyard, gift shop and restaurant for your convenience.
Not more than five minutes away, nestled on the edge of False Bay, lies a 5 km stretch of beach and ocean of the popular holiday destination called Strand.
The Super tube and Putt-Putt Golf Course is a fun and exciting outing for visitors to spend their days, with play activities to entertain the little ones, as well as the older kids and of course, Mom and Dad. Just further down this magnificent stretch of beach is the Tidal Pool, keeping you safe from the currents and allowing the family time to relax and enjoy the views of the ocean. Strand also has its own Olympic sized heated, indoor swimming pool for those rainy days and is open all year round.
When thinking of activities to do in and around Somerset West & Strand, you’ll be overwhelmed by all the outdoor activities! We really do live in one beautiful area!
